If I needed to be chosen a one single makeup product for the rest of my life, I would go for lipstick without any regrets. Because, according to me lipstick is the only component that has the capability of giving a luxurious look to any outfit. Therefore, Lipstick is the most attractive and most important component in my makeup box and I would spend a fortune to buy a good lipstick that adds an additional sparkle to my look. Without lipstick it may seems like you have not worn any makeups, but if you do apply some lipstick without any makeups, surely it will add a glamour to you. A single stick of lipstick can do wonders to your look. Simply that it will add a little spark to your look in a simple way. But choosing the correct lipstick color is not easy because the correct color has the ability of giving us the exact tone we need. Therefore, when choosing a good lipstick color, we have to consider a lot of facts.
- Determining your skin tone
Before buying a lipstick it a very important thing to reconsider the skin tone. Skin tone can be defined as the amount of melanin deposited in the outermost layer of the skin. According to the amount of melanin, the skin tone can be categorized into fair, light, medium, tan and deep. To obtain the correct skin tone, the color in the jawline has to be determined and we have to match the lipstick to the skin tone around the jaw line. After determining the skin tone, it is easy to select the best lipstick that suits ourselves after referring to a “lipstick skin tone chart.”
- Determining your undertone
Determining skin tone is not enough and determining the undertone is also plays and important role. Cool, warm and neutral are the basic undertones that we have to match the lipstick with. Quick and easiest way to find your skin undertone is by looking at the color of the veins on the inside of your wrist. If your veins are green you have a warm undertone. If you have red or purple veins you have a cool undertone but still if you couldn’t find your undertone, then you have a neutral undertone where you can choose any color from cool or warm.
- Shape and size of the lip
If your top lips have a thin upper lip, a brighter lipstick color has to be applied to the bottom of the lip and darker shade of the same color that has been applied to the bottom lip has to go to the upper lip. If your bottom lip is large, here is the place where your undertone skin color comes to rescue. Any color that you have chosen as per the skin under tone can be applied on the lips while in the center of the upper lip you can mix the previous color with a light nude color. If you have thin lips, try using glosses after applying lipsticks of your preference and avoid using dark lipsticks because it will make your lips look thin. If you have large full lips avoid using lip glosses.
- Hair color
The lipstick color that has to be applied on the lip is changing according to your hair color too.
For dark hair, fair and light skin : Bright pink, cherry, scarlet, plum colors
For blond hair, fair and light skin : light pink, scarlet colors, dusty pink, purply pink
