Is it a kind of black tea or green tea? The answer is “NO”. Yes! It doesn’t come from a traditional tea industry of Asian countries that make best and fine tea. This tea tree oil is made of the leaves of “tea tree” which is come from a different part of the world. That country is Australia. The scientific name of this plant is “Malaleuca Alternifolia” and grows in Queensland, Australia. Tea tree oil is used in traditional medicine in Australia because of its’ anti-bacterial, anti-fungus, anti-inflammatory properties. Because of its’ medicinal properties, commercial production has been started in the late 1920s. In Australian traditional medicine, tea tree leaves are finely grinded using a motar and pestle and the extracted ingredient is used to cure different diseases and now modern techniques are used to extract oil from tea tree plant because of its’ commercial demand.

Not only this, but also, we can use tea tree oil for hot oil treatments as well as we can use the oil or we can use it as a hair mask. We can add few drops of tea tree oil to the shampoo or conditioner that we use on regular basis or we can prepare our own hair mask. Mixing few drops of tea tree oil with a carrier oil, mixing few drops of tea tree oil with egg yolk, preparing a hair mask by adding few drops of tea tree oil for avocado or for yoghurt will strengthen the hair roots. Using tea tree oil for hair massages will help mind relaxation. Applying tea tree oil mixed with a good carrier oil and massaging and leaving it for about one hour will give a nice silky hair along with a relaxed mind.

According to a research published in National center for complementary and integrative health on the topic “Tea Tree oil” has found that, tea tree oil might be helpful for acne. That research further found out that tea tree oil is good for athlete’s foot and nail fungus and says that tea tree oil should not be swallowed and some people has allergies to tea tree oil and thereby doing an allergic test before applying tea tree oil will be the best option. This is not the only research done on tea tree oil and there are many researches published on tea tree oil and most of them have proven the skin benefits of tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is not only good for skin and hair, but it has many advantages such as anti-inflammatory benefits, fighting against allergies, oral heath such as gum conditions, working as a mouth wash, wound dressing etc. Though several researches are proven the advantages of tea tree oil, the results have not been proven by the United Stated Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It has proved that some people may get diarrhea, headache, vomiting, skin rashes because of tea tree oil and if you feel uneasy or any of the above symptoms it is best to avoid the application of tea tree oil.
