Cleopatra is well known for her beauty. When surfing the ancient Roman history, the last pharaoh queen, Cleopatra is recognized for her flawless, nourished, glowing and healthy skin. It is said that, this beauty queen had used to bath in milk tubs. The specialty in these milk baths is the fact that she used donkeys’ milk to bath. Her bathtub has to be filled with the milk of 700 donkeys. Ancient Egyptians believed donkey milk as the second healthiest form of milk which is only second for the breast milk. If mothers have any burdens to provide their infants with milk, they used to feed them with donkey milk because it has all these nutritional values. No wonder her milk beauty regimen has worked because she was described by Cassius Dio, a Roman statesman and a historian as “a woman of surpassing beauty”.  When seeking throughout the ancient history on beauty treatments related to skin it is obvious that they have used goat milk and cow milk for their beauty treatments.

Raw cow milk has an abundant amount of nutrients such as vitamin A, potassium, biotin, protein, vitamin B12, Lactic acid, calcium, vitamin D, vitamin B6, magnesium and selenium. Milk act as a natural face cleanser. Vitamin B6, biotin, lactic acid and potassium in milk help to strengthen the moisturization and avoid dryness. Milk has the possibility of moisturizing the deep layers of the skin. It is nourishing the skin by surpassing to the deeper layers and avoid dryness. It is better for the dryness to occur in the winter season. Applying raw milk, with gram flour, bee honey and rose water will help to maintain the nourishment of the skin. Milk has best properties to cleans out the skin. Lactic acid inclusive in milk helps to remove dead cells in the skin and help to unclog pores and remove all the dirt inside the pores by deep cleansing the face with milk. By applying raw milk on face will act as a cleanser, moisturizer and a toner. For more results, applying raw milk mixing with mung beans paste and leaving it for ten minutes will deep clean the face and for toning purposes applying raw milk would work. Vitamin D, vitamin B12, lactic acid, selenium, magnesium and calcium components in milk help in lightening the skin. It has the ability of shading the tan skin, dark spots and pimple marks while removing all the dead skin. This is the best solution for sunburns. Applying milk with tomato juice will naturally remove the dark spots in the skin or applying raw milk on skin for about three times a week for ten minutes will speed up the results. Milk function as an anti-acne agent. Milk has lactic acid and will destroy all the microbes which are causing for acnes and pimples. On the other hand, having properties like cleansing clogged pores will also affect in making the face an acne free zone. Cell growth is an important thing for people’s health and growth. Vitamin A and Vitamin B6 will increase healthy cell formation. Milk is a good anti agent. Vitamin D promotes skin elasticity while slowing down the skin from aging. This vitamin has good properties to prevent from unwanted radicals. Protein, magnesium and selenium which is also included in milk help to rejuvenate skin and to slow down the aging process of the skin. Selenium further helps to prevent skin from harmful UV rays and calcium helps in collagen production because collagen is the most vital component to keep the skin young. Calcium and vitamin D further help in promoting the tightness and elasticity in skin to avoid wrinkle formation.  Mixing milk, banana and flaxseed together and applying it on skin and leaving it for about 30 minutes and washing thoroughly is a good treatment to promote from anti-aging. Because of these properties, it is good to use milk to obtain these benefits for skin. But with our busy lifestyle it is hard to spend some time from our busy schedule for these natural remedies. Therefore, companies have invented different products that include milk. These products also give benefits though it is not a healthier option as doing home remedies.

When applying milk on skin it is good to consider whether you are having any allergies for milk-based products. Therefore, it is good to test on lactose intolerance. When selecting a milk product, it is advisable to obtain milk from a reliable retailer or it is good to go for a good milk product from a good manufacturer. Sometimes applying milk cause to trigger acnes on skin. Therefore, it is good to examine the skin before applying it on skin.
