This question has been differently answered by different magazines and scholars. Some say women do eat four pounds of lipsticks while some say it is seven pounds and some say it is one pound per year. Since different magazines and websites say different things, there’s a big difference between these sources. When averaging the amount of lipstick intake, it can be said that a woman takes seven to nine pounds of lipsticks throughout her lifetime. This amount can be differed based on the frequency of applying lipsticks and the amount of applying lipstick because some people tend to apply a thin layer of lipsticks while some tend to apply a thick layer of lipsticks.
When we eating and drinking, the lipsticks we applied tend to enter into our body in small quantities. Finally, we have consumed a lot of lipsticks unintentionally. Though the beginning is small the end result is quite breathtaking. This is not an important factor. The important factor is the number of chemicals that we intake with the lipsticks and these chemicals are not good for the human body. It is said that more than twenty ingredients are used when making lipsticks and Paraben, Dyes, lead, arsenic, heavy metals are considered to be inclusive in these lipsticks and recent studies have revealed that the percentage of toxins in these lipsticks are quite high and unhealthy. Paraben is considered to be the most harmful ingredient for the endocrine system, lead is considered to be the most dangerous ingredient and not good to pregnant ladies and breastfeeding mothers. Further, it has revealed that lead will cause human infertility and miscarriages. When talking about dyes, some of the dyes are not good for humans and these dyes have been restricted by authorities to be used as food colourings. Though they are restricted as food colourings, it is not restricted to use as a colouring agent for lipsticks. The long-term result of these lipsticks may be cancer. If we are not taking different chemicals as food, then why we take different chemicals indirectly inside our body.
The actual question is, how do we reduce the amount of lipstick usage? On the other hand, the food we eat, the water we drink, the air we breathe, the soil we step into have more lead, mercury, aluminium powder, dyes and other toxins because the environment pollution is at its highest. So, the amount of toxins that we intake through lipsticks is considered to be a very small amount. Therefore, it is not harmful to apply a good lipstick or lip gloss that comes in a good brand. Every time you take a lipstick to be cautious and check for the ingredients and if the lipstick contains a lot of harmful ingredients it is good not to purchase it. If you have any irritations, flaking of the lip skin, redness, rashes or any other allergies just stop applying lipsticks and go for medical consultations. It is good if you can apply a good layer of moisturizer as the first layer before applying any lipsticks and it is good to go for more organic lipsticks though it is quite expensive and most importantly, it is good to keep these cosmetic items away from little children because the effect for the kids is considerably higher than the effects for the adults. On the other hand, it is good if people can remove lipstick when they are eating. They can re-apply lipstick after eating the food. If we can follow some good steps like these, we can avoid lipsticks being a silent killer.
