Ghee! Originated in South Asia has its’ unique flavor. It is prepared from butter or from liquid milk and also known as a type of clarified butter or butter oil.  Clarified butter is the butter that has removed all the milk solids and water from the milk and if you eat ghee it means you get the purest form butter in your hand. Therefore, ghee can be consumed by people who is sensitive to dairy products. Ghee is mainly used in Asian cuisine, traditional medicines, religious rituals and as well as a skincare product. When considering about the nutritional value of ghee, in one tablespoon or 14 grams of ghee has 112 calories, 12.8g of fat, 8 grams of saturated fat, trace amounts of carbs, 0.04g of protein, 1mg of potassium, omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin A, E and K. Homemade ghee has best health benefits when compared with the ghee available in the market. In most of the Asian households Ghee is considered to be the staple ingredient in every possible meal.

Ghee can be made at home. What it only required is some good quality butter. Put it into a saucepan and cook it in the medium heat until milk solids sink to the bottom and you have to cook further until the milk solids become brown in color. Then separate the oil from milk solids and pour into a small jar and keep away from sunlight. Since it is cooked in a low heat, the essential nutrients are always secured and will not harm any important nutrients though it is kept at highest heat. Since all the lactose are removed it can be even consumed by people with high sensitivity to milk and ghee can be stored for a long period of time. Ghee is used when preparing vegetable and meat curries, biscuits, roti, in every stir fry, can be used in baking instead of butter, can apply a thin layer of ghee as a substitute for butter, can be easily used to sprinkle over salads, can use as a oil for substituting olive oil and coconut oil or can easily eat by takin ghee straightly out of the jar.

Ghee is used to maintain the warmth inside the body. Specially during the winter season, it is a must to keep ourselves warm. So, having a warm tablespoon of ghee will help us to keep ourselves warm from inside. It is better to prepare foods from ghee during the winter season to keep ourselves warm. Since ghee has a considerable amount of vitamin E, it is good for the eyesight. If you eat more ghee it will enhance your eyesight. Since it has a good composition of vitamin E and vitamin D it will boost the metabolism rate and will help to glow your skin. Applying ghee in the skin will give a soft skin and it will deeply moisturize the skin. Because of vitamin K, bones will get stronger and it is good for the heart and brain function. Since ghee is lactose and casein protein free, it is good for people with milk allergies. Therefore, by consuming ghee they can have double benefits since it includes a considerable amount nutrient in milk with the fat-soluble nutrients of ghee.  Ghee contains Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) which will reduce cancer formation and will lower the blood pressure.  Short-chain fatty acids in ghee will help to improve digestion and will help in inflammatory conditions. In a situation like constipation what should do is having two teaspoons of ghee mixed in milk at night. It will solve all the problems related to digestive system including constipation within one night. If you are falling ill all the time, try having some ghee for about one week continuously. It will boost your immune system and will enhance the possibility of absorbing all necessary nutrients into the body because ghee has a lot of antioxidants. Most importantly, it will help in losing bodyweight because ghee is considered to be a good fat like olive oil and avocado. When you take ghee, it will lose all the toxins out of cells and enhance the metabolism rate. If you have a good metabolism rate that means you are losing weight easily. Further, if a person has a risk of heart diseases, it is good to limit the ghee consumption. Having 10% of ghee in their daily diets or having one or two tablespoon of ghee will not lead to any harmful cholesterol levels or for harmful diseases. At last but not least consuming ghee will help in healthy weight gain. It is the time to stop eating additional meals, sweet products and more carbs to gain weight by one or two kilos. Having ghee with the diet will help to put some extra weight because ghee is good with increasing body tissue and appetite.
