Skin tanning is where the skin gets dark or brown because of the exposure to sun or some artificial sources like lying in the skin tanning beds created in indoors. The ultraviolet (UV) rays produced by the sun has the capability of producing melanin and vitamin D from the skin. This excess production of melanin will cause the skin become tanned. People used to be exposed to the sun to make their skin dark on purpose or some people use different products such as creams to make their skin dark. But, the excessive exposure to sunlight is not good because there is a tendency of occurring harmful sunburns which require medical supervision. Sometimes the negative impacts of excessive skin tanning process can be extended to skin cancers. If you have had skin tanning exceeds the amount you required, here you have some remedies to protect your skin from excessive skin darkness.  

  1. Remedies from tomato

What do you think if someone says that “eating and applying tomatoes on the skin will remove sunburns”? the answer is “yes” tomatoes can avoid and remove the skin tans.  Tomato has a very rich antioxidant that is called as lycopene. This antioxidant is very effective to act as a natural sun block. 

How to use:     Take a fresh and organic tomato and grind it until it becomes a fine paste and extract the juice out of the paste using a sieve (or you can simply apply the pulp on the affected area). Apply this and leave this on the face for about 15 minutes and wash it soon after the stipulated time or you can pour the paste into an ice cube tray to make tomato ice cubes. Now we can apply an ice cube or two ice cubes daily on the affected area. 

  • Remedies from aloe-vera

Excessive exposure to sun will make you ageing and will speedup wrinkle formation. Application of aloe-vera will reduce all these problems occurred due to sun burns in addition to the skin de-tanning. Metallothionein in aloe vera which is a good antioxidant protein helps to avoid skin tannin. This will not only help to avoid de-tanning but also it helps to moisturize the skin by acting as a good cooling agent and thereby promoting anti-ageing. 

How to use:     Apply mashed aloe-vera gel on the face and wash it using lukewarm water. If you can keep this mixture on the face for an overnight will bring you with immense benefits. If you want quick benefits, you can apply this mixture on the face everyday in a raw. 

  • Turmeric and gram flour

Gram flour can be extracted from chick pea seed. Dried chick peas has to be grinded until it gives a fine dust. It can be mixed with turmeric using raw milk or water. Then applying it on the affected area and leaving it for 20 minutes will give you with best results. If this doesn’t work, mixture of gram flour made by mixing yoghurt and some lemon drops will remove all the tans in the skin. Antioxidants and curcumin in turmeric and gram flour will help in this.

  • Potato paste 

Potato is not only for French fries or for curries. Here you have potatoes as a good skin de-tanning agent. Mild bleaching effects helps to avoid skin tanning and hyperpigmentation. Not only this, catecholate enzymes in potato helps to avoid dark spots.

How to use:     Blend and take a good thick mixture of potato paste or you can extract the potato juice from the paste. Apply this potato paste or juice on the face and leave it on the face for about 30 minutes and wash it using lukewarm water or making ice cubes from potatoes will be effective as the paste application. The ice cube application can be applied on the face on every day in the morning and in the evening before bed and it is good if it can be kept on the affected area throughout the night.

  • Sugar and lemon scrub

Scrubbing is the best way to remove skin tanning because skin exfoliation and removal of skin tanning has a positive effect. But, using good and effective ingredients are a positive factor to be considered when scrubbing to accommodate skin de-tanning. Therefore, sugar and lemon have its own properties to help de-tanning. Sugar has glycolic acid and alpha hydroxy acid that avoid skin tanning. Citric acid in lemon is another good component that helps skin whitening and thereby it will avoid skin tanning. Therefore, by combining these two ingredients will avoid all the tans our from the skin 

How to use:     Make a good mixture of lemon and sugar and apply this mixture on the body and massage on circular motion. This will avoid all the skin tanning and will promote blood circulation throughout the body. Leaving this mixture on the body for about 20 minutes and washing it using lukewarm water will surely remove all the tans out of the body.

  • Cucumber and milk

Cucumber has astringent properties and cooling properties. Milk contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) which is considered to be a good skin care agent and these are now included in many skin care products because of its advantages. These properties in cucumber and milk helps to avoid skin tanning. 

How to use:     Make a mixture by adding cucumber and milk and grind it until it becomes a nice and smooth paste and apply it on the face or affected area and wash it using lukewarm water. Do this treatment twice or thrice a week to get better results. 

  • Yoghurt face packs

Yoghurt is the best ingredient to prevent skin tanning. Yoghurt is a natural moisturizer and it is a 

Skin brightener. Vitamin B5 has the ability to brighten the dull skin by reducing dark spots.

Vitamin B12 avoids skin discoloration and riboflavin in yogurt helps to protect the skin from free radicals.

How to use:     Simply apply some yoghurt by adding few lemon drops and leave this on the face for about 20 minutes and wash it away using lukewarm water. Do this twice or thrice a week for better results. 

These are some of the easy and results given remedies that has to be tried by every person who has skin tannin problems because the results are obvious and good.
